Civic Recreation Complex Project Updates

Civic Outdoor Track project

The City of Oshawa has committed to investing $2.3 million to upgrade the Civic’s outdoor track. The remainder of the project is scheduled for completion in 2026.

Due to low temperatures and long-term risks identified by the surface supplier to ensure the durability and performance of the new track surface, installation is now scheduled for 2026 to ensure proper performance and durability.

The track will remain closed during this time.

In the interim, significant progress has been made, including completed upgrades to the javelin and pole vault runways, high jump area and both long jump pits. Please note that these areas may remain unavailable for use until the full track renovation is complete.

We will provide updated information regarding the status of the other amenities located at Civic Field 1 as they become available.

We recognize that the outdoor track is an important community asset, especially for track and field events and hosting groups and organizations from across Durham Region and beyond. We understand this closure is inconvenient and appreciate your patience.

The City remains committed to supporting user groups and events at alternative venues. For assistance, including of equipment loans, please contact us at fbo@oshawa.ca.
