Bright and Merry Market Road Closures

When: Friday, November 14, 2025

Where: 

• Centre St. S. between King St. and John St.
• Athol St. between Centre St. S. and Simcoe St. S.
• Debwewin Miikan (formerly Bagot St.) Between Simcoe St. S. and Queen St.
• Metcalfe St. between Centre St. and Simcoe St. S.
• Queen St. from the north side at the crosswalk by permit parking to the south side south of the main entrance to RMG

Why: Bright and Merry Market and Tree Lighting Event

Take Back the Night Road Closure

When: Thursday, September 18, 2025

Where:

Full closure from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

• McGrigor St. between Simcoe St. S. and Centre St. S. (Hard close from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.)

Rolling closures starting from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the right lane:

• Simcoe St. S. from McGrigor St. to Richmond St.
• Richmond St. from Simcoe St. N. to Centre St. S.
• Centre St. S. back to McGrigor St.

Roadway update: Traffic line painting in progress

Where: Various roadways and intersections

Painting often takes place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. during the week however work will be done during the overnight hours as well.

When: From May 27, 2025 to October 15, 2025

Why: To refresh the various intersection line markings such as stop bars, crosswalks, short centerlines and arrows with a durable plastic paint. Longitudinal line painting on City roads is done by the Region using latex paint for roadway...
