Community Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee (C.D.E.I.C.) is searching for new members

- knowledge of anti-racism, anti-oppression, or diversity, equity and inclusion principles?
- a commitment to advancing equity and driving change in your community?
- experience working with community groups, organizations, or teams?
Do you live, work or study in Oshawa?
If so, you may be interested in joining the Community Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee (C.D.E.I.C.) The C.D.E.I.C. was formed in 2020 and plays an important role in creating a welcoming and inclusive community that is open and accessible to all.
As a committee member, you will help bring forward the voices of diverse community groups and organizations in Oshawa to advise on making all city programs, services, and policies open to everyone in Oshawa.

Time Commitment
Committee members are expected to meet 8-10 times a year. Meetings are usually held in the evenings from 7-9 p.m. Meeting times and frequency may be adjusted as needed.
Recruitment Process
Please make sure to provide plenty of detail about your skills, knowledge, and experience in the application to ensure that there is enough information to assess your qualifications for the Committee.
All applications will be reviewed anonymously. This means that personal details (names and email addresses) will be removed before the recruitment sub-committee reviews the application. Each application will be reviewed by members of the recruitment sub-committee and given a score.
Applicants that meet the minimum score required will be invited to an interview. The interview will be conducted in person by two members of the recruitment sub-committee. Applicants will receive the questions before the interview and interviews are expected to take about half an hour. The recruitment sub-committee will work with applicants to schedule an interview time that works best for them. Accommodations will be made for applicants who need them.

What is the C.D.E.I.C.?
The Community Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee (C.D.E.I.C.) was established in July 2020 with community representatives who came together to support City staff to implement its Diversity and Inclusion Plan.
Committee members use their skills, knowledge and lived experience to bring forward the voices of diverse community groups and organizations in Oshawa, advise on the elimination of barriers within City programs, services and policies for diverse populations, and consult on the development of new initiatives and programs.
