Free activities and events for youth May 1-7

In celebration of National Youth Week and National Youth Arts Week, the City of Oshawa is offering an exciting lineup of free activities and drop-in programs from May 1 to 7.
The Oshawa Youth Council played a key role in the planning and implementation of the week of free events.
In collaboration with community partners including BGC Durham, Oshawa Public Libraries and The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, free youth events include:
- Fun Swim
- Public Skate
- Movie Night
- Board Game Café
- Paint Night

Florell Park features a new playground and accessible amenities

Members of Council and neighbourhood residents celebrated the completion of the Florell Park redevelopment project at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 19.
The park redevelopment project focused on accessibility and access for all abilities and ages. Oshawa Fire Services opens state-of-the-art training facility

The City of Oshawa and Oshawa Fire Services officially celebrated the opening of a new fire training facility on April 14. Members of Council were on hand to take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and watch a live fire training demonstration.

Oshawa residents encouraged to wildlife proof their property during coyote denning season

Oshawa community members may notice an increase in coyote sightings this time of year as coyotes start seeking out a den to raise their pups. Residents and property owners are reminded not to feed coyotes and are encouraged to wildlife proof their property to minimize encounters and prevent denning.
Wildlife proofing includes:
- Removing food attractants from your yard: secure your garbage, keep pet food indoors and clean up spilled bird seed and fallen fruits.
