Emergency Preparedness Week is May 1 to 7, 2022 and the City of Oshawa reminds us that emergencies such as severe weather events or prolonged power outages can occur anytime, anywhere.
Community members are encouraged to be ready for an emergency by preparing an emergency kit for their home. The kit should have enough food, water and any applicable medications to last at least 72 hours (three days). Remember to think of pets in your 72 hour plan. Today, on April 28, 2022, the City of Oshawa observes National Day of Mourning.
Today, flags at City facilities will fly at half-mast and the City will lower the Day of Mourning Flag at City Hall in honour and remembrance of workers who have lost their lives or suffered injury or illness on the job or due to a work-related tragedy.

Celebrating the success of a 1-year OTF Grant
On Tuesday, April 5, 2022, the Oshawa Senior Community Centres 55+ (OSCC55+) held a wrap-up event to celebrate the success of a $63,800 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). On behalf of the City of Oshawa, Mayor Carter enthusiastically welcomed the announcement that GM Canada will add light-duty pickup production and a third shift at the Oshawa Assembly Plant, creating more than 2,600 new jobs since operations resumed at the plant.
