Oshawa Fire Services has announced Gabriel, a sixth grader from Sir Albert Love Catholic School, as Oshawa’s 2024 Junior Fire Chief.
The Junior Fire Chief contest encouraged Oshawa students in Grades 5 and 6 to submit a video outlining the importance of smoke alarms and home escape planning. Gabriel’s role is to be an ambassador for fire safety in his school, home and community and a positive role model for his peers.

The City of Oshawa is exploring the possibility of offering internet voting for its 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections and wants to know your thoughts.
Between Monday, June 3 and Wednesday, June 19, residents may be randomly contacted by Environics Research to participate in a confidential telephone or online survey. The survey looks to gain a better understanding of Oshawa residents’ voting preferences.

The City of Oshawa encourages all community members to thank their crossing guard during Crossing Guard Appreciation Week, June 3 to 7.
The week recognizes more than 125 crossing guards throughout our community who help students and pedestrians travel safely across streets and intersections on school days, completing approximately 1.5 million crossings each school year.
