Durham Region Notice: Area residents invited to participate in emergency preparedness survey

The Region of Durham, in collaboration with the Social Research Centre at Ontario Tech University, are conducting a survey to gather information about residents’ understanding of nuclear emergency preparedness.

Coyote sightings increase in Oshawa

Community members urged to report coyote sightings to Service Oshawa
A recent increase in sightings of coyotes has been reported in various areas of Oshawa. The safety of our community is our top priority, and the City of Oshawa is monitoring the situation closely. In response to the sightings, a number of measures have been put into action.

With the arrival of the spring weather, the City of Oshawa’s If you see it, report it! campaign encourages community members to report damage, vandalism or graffiti to City boulevard fixtures to Service Oshawa.
Oshawa’s boulevards are home to a significant number of fixtures that help serve our community every day. Fixtures are located on approximately 1,200 km of city boulevards and may include the following:
- Traffic light poles and signals
- Power supply boxes
- Telecommunication boxes

Downtown area businesses can apply to display sandwich board signs

Businesses in the downtown area of Oshawa are encouraged to learn more about a pilot project that temporarily permits sandwich board signs.
Sandwich board signs are an affordable tool for businesses to advertise to visitors and community members, especially during the summer season.
The pilot project runs until April 1, 2023 and permits sandwich board signs in Central Business District Zones in the Downtown Oshawa Urban Growth Centre.

Durham Region Notice: Resident’s Guide to Climate Resiliency now available online

The Durham Environmental Advisory Committee (DEAC) has developed a new Resident’s Guide to Climate Resiliency with practical information on what we can do to build climate resiliency into our day-to-day lives, to contribute to a cleaner and healthier region.
The Guide consists of eight sections: Your Home, Food, Waste, Health and Wellness, Transportation, Water, Energy and Businesses. Each section highlights some of the choices we can make to play our part in improving climate resiliency.
