New Multi-Use Path system open on Thornton Road

The City of Oshawa is pleased to announce the expansion of cycling options along Thornton Road North between King Street West and Taunton Road West.
The new multi-use path system connects to the existing Taunton Road West multi-use path which was recently extended from Northbrook Street to Somerville Street connecting with the on-road bike route. Pavement markings and signage have been added along Thornton Road to provide a seamless connection and to ensure drivers are aware of the new path system....

The City of Oshawa is pleased to announce that the city’s first cricket field with pitch is officially open for use at Stone Street Park.
The new temporary cricket field is a smaller sized playing field with an approximate boundary radius of 40-50 metres.

The City of Oshawa’s new BMX Bike Park officially opened on August 18 at a ribbon-cutting ceremony with members of the Oshawa City Council and the BMX community in attendance.
The BMX Bike Park is located at 1095 Thornton Road North (east side of Thornton Road North and south of the Oshawa Airport Golf Club) in the future Rose Valley Community Park. For the second year in a row, Oshawa’s virtual events have been recognized by Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO) for pivoting, adapting and evolving to meet the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Road closure and detour signs will be posted in accordance with provincial standards.
Full Road Closure - No through access will be available for emergency vehicles. No through access for local traffic.
