We've upgraded activeOshawa Online! Now, registering for your favourite programs is easier than ever with improved site layout, better navigation, and enhanced search capabilities. Before you sign up for an activeOshawa program, view instructional videos on navigating the updated website. Instructions shown are for clients using a mobile device. On a desktop computer, the client menu is accessed from the top right banner.

Your activeOshawa account

Create a new account

  1. Go to the activeOshawa Online website.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Create Account.

  3. Enter your personal information such as name, address, contact information, and password. Required fields are indicate with a * and require a response to save.
  4. Click Create Account to complete.

  5. From the menu, you should now see your first and last name as the logged in user.
Note: Passwords must be a minimum of eight characters and must include three of the following:
  • Lowercase character
  • Uppercase character
  • Numeric character
  • Special character

Tip: Not sure if you already have an account?

Try entering your email on the reset password page. You will receive an email to reset your password if you already have an account with an email.

If you have an account but your email address is not on it, contact us at 905-436-3311 or [email protected] to have your email added.

Navigate your account

  1. Go to the activeOshawa Online website.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Log in.
  3. From the drop-down menu, click on your name and select your menu option.
My Account

View your account balance, current memberships and upcoming activity, course and facility bookings.

My Password
Change your password. 

Note: Passwords must be a minimum of eight characters and must include three of the following:
  • Lowercase character
  • Uppercase character
  • Numeric character
  • Special character
My Details

Update your name, address and contact information.

My Checkouts
View any pending or processing transactions.
My Memberships
  • View memberships for all family members.
  • View for one or multiple family memberships at a time.
  • View cancelled and finished memberships.
My Courses
  • View registered courses for all family group members.
  • View one or multiple family members at a time.
  • View current and future courses, waitlisted courses and previous courses.
My Bookings
  • View upcoming activity, course and facility bookings for all family group members.
  • View one or multiple family members at a time.
My Statements
  • View payments.
  • View invoices from previous transactions (activities, courses, memberships and facility bookings).
  • View account credits for cancelled courses/services.

My Groups
  • Create a family group.
  • Add members to a family group.
 Add family members
  1. Go to the activeOshawa Online website.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Log in.
  3. From the drop-down menu, click on your name and select My Groups.
  4. Click Create Group.
  5. Select the group type Family. Set the description for the group as your name followed by "family" (e.g. John Smith family). All group members must live at the same address.
  6. Click Create to save the group.
  7. Click Add & Update to add a member to your family group.
  8. Complete the mandatory fields for the family member. 
  9. Click Add & Update to save.
  10. Repeat steps seven to nine to add another family member.
Combine duplicate client accounts
Some clients have an account in our registration system more than once, and some family members are not linked in a family group.


To combine duplicate client accounts or create a family group of clients who have already have an activeOshawa account, please contact us at [email protected].

Courses

Registration day tips
  1. Prior to registration day, log in to your account and ensure all of your details are correct, and all family members are linked to your account. Learn how to add family members to your account.
  2. Prior to registration day, browse for courses and write down a wish list. The activeOshawa Recreation Guide is available to view online one week prior to registration.
  3. On registration day, log in to your account, click Course Search to search by course ID. Register and click Continue Shopping, repeat this process until all courses are in your cart.
  4. When browsing for courses, check “Hide Fully Booked Courses”. Leave unchecked to add to a course waitlist.
Browsing for courses


Course ID or keyword search:

  1. Go to the activeOshawa Online website.
  2. Click on the menu icon and select Course Search.
  3. Enter a course ID to find a specific course, or a keyword to search all courses that contain the keyword in the course name or description.


Browse:

  1. Go to the activeOshawa Online website.
  2. Scroll down and select Program Registration.
  3. Select a category to browse.
  4. Use the search filters to narrow the search results.

Tips:

  • All filter options allow multiple selections.
  • To see only courses with spaces available, select the checkbox “Hide Fully Booked Courses”.
  • Click Start Over to clear the search filters.


Course Details:

  • The course search results display details of each course including the day of week, time of day, price, available spaces, and where the course takes place.
  • Click the map icon beside the facility to open a map link to the exact course location.
  • Click the blue information icon or orange alert icon for important course information.
  • Click Details for additional information including the minimum and maximum ages, and to register in the course.
Registering for courses
  1. Go to the activeOshawa Online website.
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Log in, or if you do not already have an account, select Create Account.
  3. Find the course(s) you want to register in, either by clicking Course Search to search for a course ID or keyword, or by going to Program Registration to browse by category.
  4. Once you find a course to register in, click Details to view more information for the course.
  5. Click Register beside the participant you would like to register in the course.
  6. Choose Continue Shopping to add another item to your cart, or Checkout to proceed to payment.
  7. If applicable, from the Apply Account Credit drop-down, click apply for any existing credit(s) on your account to apply the credit to the payment due.
  8. Once you checkout is complete, your will receive a confirmation message and your invoice will be emailed.

During busy registration periods, course payments will appear as a credit on your activeOshawa account, and registrations will appear as pending under "My Courses". If your payment has been processed on your card but does not appear in your account, contact the City of Oshawa at 905-436-3311 or [email protected] for assistance.

Tips:

  • If you already know the Course ID, use the Course Search option on the top menu bar.
  • If the name of the person you want to register does not appear, add the person to your family in My Groups.
Waitlist for a course
If a course is already full, you will not have the option to Register. The only option displayed will be Waitlist.
  1. Follow the steps to register for a course. Click Waitlist for the participant.
  2. This will add the waitlist to your cart.
  3. Choose Continue Shopping to add another item to your cart, or Checkout to complete the waitlist process.
Withdraw from a course
Course withdrawals cannot be completed online, by phone, or email. A Course Withdrawal and Refund Request Form must be submitted to withdraw from a course.


Participants will receive a full refund if:

  • The course is cancelled by Recreation Services.
  • A refund request is received at least seven days prior to the start of the course.


Participants will receive a partial refund if:

  • A refund request is received less than seven days prior to the course and before the second class.
  • Partial refunds will be pro-rated based on the number of classes remaining in a course at the time the refund request is received and is subject to a $16 administration fee per course.
  • Administration fees are waived if the participant accepts a credit on their account for the eligible amount. A credit refunded later is subject to a $16 administration fee when the refund is issued.
  • A refund will not be issued for requests received after the second class of a course, unless for medical reasons. In the case of a medical reason, a verified doctor’s note is required to be submitted at the time of the request.
Financial assistance for courses

Oshawa residents may be eligible to receive financial assistance based on annual income to assist with the cost of participation in our programs. The Access to Recreation Subsidy Programs have a variety of financial assistance programs for Oshawa residents.


Verify your eligibility by contacting a Supervisor, Recreational Programs at a recreation facility.

 

Clients who are enrolled in the Recreation Access Membership Program (R.A.M.P.) can complete their program registration online. All other program registrations with financial assistance must be completed in person.

Bookings

Browsing for activities


  1. Go to the activeOshawa Online website.
  2. Scroll down and select the activity you would like to view.
    • Swimming Schedules
    • Skating & Shinny Schedules
    • Sports Schedules
  3. Select a facility to view the activity schedule at the specific facility, or select Daily Schedule to view the activity schedule for all facilities in the activity group by calendar day.
  4. Select the filter icon beside the activity name to view the schedule for that activity at all facilities.
  5. Select the filter icon beside the facility to view a schedule of all activities at that facility.
Booking an activity or court

  1. Go to the activeOshawa Online website
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Log in.
  3. Select a category:
    • Skating & Shinny Schedules
    • Sports Schedules
    • Tennis & Squash Court Bookings
  4. Select the participant to book. On a mobile device, you may need to scroll up to see the participant drop-down menu.
  5. Click Book Now on the session you would like to book.
  6. If applicable, from the Apply Account Credit drop-down, click Apply for any existing credit(s) on your account to apply the credit to the payment due.
  7. Choose Continue Shopping to add another item to your cart, or Checkout to proceed to payment.

Tip: When logged in, you can view booked sessions in My Bookings.

Cancel a booking
Activity and court bookings cannot be cancelled online. To cancel, email [email protected] or call the recreation facility where your booking is scheduled. Cancellation fees may apply.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your activeOshawa account

I have registered in programs or created bookings in the past. How do I know if I have an existing account?
If you believe you already have an existing activeOshawa account, visit the reset password page at register.oshawa.ca and enter your email address and five character code to request a password reset link If your email is associated with an existing account, you'll be able to reset your password.

If you receive an error message or are unsure if you have an existing account, contact us at 905-436-3311 or email [email protected] to confirm. You can create a new account in person at any recreation facility or online by clicking Create Account.
I forgot my login information. What should I do now?
Click the reset password link on the Log in page. Enter your email address and click send. If you have an existing account, you will receive an email with further directions.

If you receive an error message, you may not have an existing account, or a valid email is not associated with your account. Contact us at 905-436-3311 or email [email protected].

Program registration

If my child reaches the minimum age required for a program after the program starts, can they still register?
No, participants must be the correct age at the start of their registered program. For example, if a program begins on July 4 and the minimum age required is five, the child must be five on July 4. If the child does not turn five until July 11, they are not eligible for the program.

I am not sure what my child’s swim level is. How do I find out?

Visit a recreation facility during public swim hours for a complimentary swim assessment before registration day or contact Service Oshawa at 905-436-3311 to connect with an Aquatic Coordinator.

Can I register my child for a program using my account?

To register your child for a course, you must first add them to your family group account. This process must be complete before registration day. Learn how to add family members to your account.
Why is my membership pricing not appearing when I register for a course or book an activity?
If you have an active membership, please ensure you are logging into the account linked to your membership. You may need to activate your account for use on activeOshawa Online. Contact us at 905-436-3311 or email [email protected].
Why is my Oshawa resident 55+ pricing not appearing when I register for a course?
This discount is not available for online registration. If you wish, you can complete your registration online and visit a recreation facility to show proof of age and residency to have your fee discounted before the start of the program. Alternatively, you can complete your registration at a recreation facility to have the discount applied at the time of registration.
