The City of Oshawa has proclaimed Sunday, May 26 through to Saturday, June 1 as National AccessAbility Awareness Week (N.A.A.W.) in Oshawa.
Celebrated annually, N.A.A.W.:
- applauds the valuable contributions and leadership of Canadians with disabilities;
- highlights the work of people, organizations and communities that are removing barriers; and,
- reflects on the ongoing efforts to become a better, more accessible and more inclusive Canada.

HOPA Ports to establish Lake Ontario Short Sea Shipping Corridor with United States

The Hamilton Oshawa Port Authority (HOPA Ports) announced an agreement with an affiliate of Beowulf Electricity & Data Inc (Beowulf), the U.S. owner of an expansive 1,800-acre site on the southern shore of Lake Ontario to create a bi-national, low-emission, short sea trade corridor. The City of Oshawa invites all community members to attend the inaugural Indigenous Cultural Celebration on Saturday, June 1 at Ed Broadbent Park. The event will kick-off Indigenous History Month by recognizing and celebrating the beautiful and rich culture of the various Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island.
This event is presented as part of the City’s centennial celebrations, as a recognition that the history of Oshawa long surpasses the 100 year milestone.

Freedom Mobile partners with City for naming rights of Arena 2 at Delpark Homes Centre

The City of Oshawa is excited to announce Freedom Mobile as a naming rights sponsor of Arena 2 at the City’s Delpark Homes Centre recreation facility for three years.

Baker Park Bridge is closed due to safety reasons

Where: Baker Park Bridge is closed between Regent Dr. and Parklane Ave. This closure does not affect any roads.
When: Until further notice. Council has approved funding for the design phase of a new bridge which staff are currently working on, with construction funding to be reviewed as part of the 2025 Budget process. If the project is approved for construction, we anticipate completion in the third quarter of 2025.
