Oshawa Fire Services (O.F.S.) is pleased to announce Chris Leslie as the Durham A.M. Kiwanis Firefighter of the Year.
Born and raised in Durham Region, Chris joined O.F.S. in 2009. He quickly became part of the Technical Rescue Team, joining in 2010, and is currently certified in rope, confined space, trench and water rescues. Chris is also an O.F.S. elevator technician.

Building upon the City of Oshawa’s energy reduction actions and achievements, City Council has approved a new Corporate Energy Management Plan.
The 2024-2028 Corporate Energy Management Plan combines the City’s previous Corporate Facilities Energy Management Plan and includes the goals and objectives of the City’s Corporate Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan.

Report graffiti and vandalism: help keep Oshawa beautiful

In response to a number of criminal incidents in our city, the City of Oshawa is urging the community to help keep Oshawa clean, green and beautiful.
Recent costly acts of vandalism in our community include:
- damage upwards of $50,000 to the new Ed Broadbent Waterfront Park and Garden of Human Rights;
- removal of plantings from City gardens; and,
- graffiti and property damage in our downtown and various areas within the city.

As Mayor, I am extremely disheartened by destructive acts of vandalism at the City of Oshawa’s newly opened Ed Broadbent Waterfront Park and Garden of Human Rights.
I am saddened and frustrated to share that the beautiful Waterfront Park and Garden of Human Rights – named in honour of long-time former Oshawa MP Mr. Ed Broadbent, a champion and advocate for human rights – incurred significant and costly damages in two separate incidents of vandalism.
