Application and recruitment process
The City of Oshawa only reviews applications received online. We do not accept hard copy applications. Follow these simple steps to get started:
- From the Current Job Postings page, select the posting of interest and click “Apply”
- Upload your resume, complete the personal information section and answer the screening questions (if applicable)
- Once your application is complete, you will receive a pop-up thank you message confirming the receipt of your application
- Ensure that you provide valid contact information (email address and phone number), as further communication will be through email or phone
- Be sure to check your junk/spam folder in your email inbox
- For technical concerns with the application process, please email [email protected] or call Human Resource Services at 905-436-5666.
Screening
Due to the high number of applications we receive, we only contact candidates who will be invited to the next step of the hiring process.
Interviews and/or testing
If selected, you will be contacted for an interview and/or job specific testing. Please note the date and time of the interview and/or test and location. If you need an accommodation related to a disability, please request it at this time.
Verification
Your job offer may be conditional on the following (you will be advised of these requirements at the applicable time during the recruitment process):
- Reference check (typically three work-related supervisory references from current and past employers)
- All positions require a police record check. For positions working with the vulnerable population, a vulnerable sector check will be requested with the police check obtained from your local police station.
- If driving is a requirement of the job you have applied for, you may be requested to provide a copy of your driving record
- Occupational health assessment/pre-employment medical may be arranged on behalf of the applicant with an occupational health services provider
Offers
The final stage of the recruitment process is a job offer. Applicants will receive a verbal job offer first, then a formal written offer of employment will follow.
