Accessibility
The City is committed to providing a healthy and safe community with accessible facilities, programs and services for everyone to enjoy.
The City works hard to follow the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act 2005 (A.O.D.A.) and the required provincial requirements in the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation.
Our accessibility advisory committee
The City has an Accessibility Advisory Committee. These community volunteers, appointed by Council, help identify, remove and prevent accessibility barriers in city facilities, programs and services.
Our accessibility plan
We have created a multi-year accessibility plan that shows Oshawa's steps to remove barriers for people with disabilities.

Oshawa Accessibility Design Standards
The Oshawa Accessibility Design Standards (O.A.D.S.) is a technical guide for ensuring building projects are accessible and often exceed the Ontario Building Code requirements.
This standard applies to constructing new buildings and renovating existing buildings owned, leased or operated by the City.
The City encourages the use of the O.A.D.S. in the community as the requirements include the principles of universal design that benefit people of all ages and abilities.
