Heritage is the common ground that sustains our communities in times of change. Oshawa has a rich and dynamic history and features extensive archival collections and significant landmarks. Oshawa has many historic sites, including one National Historic Site, Parkwood Estate.

Are you looking to make an application under the Ontario Heritage Act?
The following applications require the submission of a Heritage Permit:- Applications to remove “listed, non-designated” properties from the Municipal Register under Section 27 of the Ontario Heritage Act;
- Applications to request heritage designation of property under Section 29 of the Ontario Heritage Act;
- Applications to alter Part IV designated properties under Section 33 of the Ontario Heritage Act; and,
- Applications to demolish Part IV designated properties under Section 34 of the Ontario Heritage Act.
There is no fee collected for a Heritage Permit. Prior to submitting a Heritage Permit, it is highly recommended that you contact Planning Services for initial discussion including the identification of potential requirements. Please contact [email protected].
