Heritage Properties
There are many properties with cultural heritage value in Oshawa. Over 30 properties also have Ontario Heritage Act designation for their cultural heritage value or interest.

City of Oshawa Municipal Register
The City is required under Part IV, Section 27 the Ontario Heritage Act to maintain a municipal register of properties identified by City Council as having cultural heritage value or interest. This register contains:
- Properties designated individually under Part IV, Section 29 of the Ontario Heritage Act;
- Properties designated within a Heritage Conservation District under Part V, Section 41 of the Ontario Heritage Act;
- "Register Non-Designated" properties, which are identified by Council as having cultural heritage value or interest under Part IV, Section 27 of the Ontario Heritage Act, but not designated under Section 29 or 41.

Heritage Oshawa Inventory
The Heritage Oshawa Inventory of City of Oshawa Heritage Properties identifies properties of potential cultural heritage value or interest in Oshawa and includes properties evaluated and identified as 'Class A' or 'Class B' by Heritage Oshawa.
‘Class A' properties have a very high potential for designation. 'Class B' properties have good potential for designation.
