Parking on Private Property
Parking unauthorized vehicles on private property has become a problem for property owners. As a result, The City of Oshawa has a By-law to allow for ticketing of vehicles on private property, provided they meet all the requirements of the City of Oshawa Traffic By-laws.
Fire route and Accessible Parking infractions are proactively enforced on private property by parking enforcement officers.
If you require information regarding proper signage for your property, contact Service Oshawa.
What are the requirements to have the by-law enforced?
- The owner/agent must sign for the ticket when an officer arrives and issues the infraction notice.
- There must be signs erected at each entrance and within the authorized parking area on the property, clearly indicating the parking regulation. There is no fee to enroll in the program.
- The owner/occupant is responsible for the manufacturing and installing the signs based on standards set out by the city.
Who can issue tickets?
- Trained and approved security officers hired by the property owner.
- Parking Enforcement Officers.
