Winter Parking
The City needs your help to ensure efficient snow clearing on your street and during snow removal.
On street parking
Vehicles parked on the street can delay or prevent effective snow clearing operations. Snowplow operators try to plow all streets back to the curb, but any road obstruction, such as a parked vehicle, makes this impossible.
City of Oshawa Traffic By-law 79-99 states:
- Parking on City streets is not allowed between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. from December 1 to April 1.
- Parking that interferes with snow clearing operations is not allowed. Any vehicle parked in a manner which hinders efficient snow clearing operations may be ticketed or towed.
- On street parking is limited to three hours unless signed otherwise.
Snow pick up and removal in the downtown
Snow pickup and removal is sometimes required, when there has been a significant accumulation of snow downtown. During a snow pickup and removal operation, trucks collect and remove the snow from the boulevards.
To provide access to the boulevards, on street parking in the downtown core is not allowed after 10 p.m. Temporary signs will tell motorists that snow removal operations will be occurring and that parking is temporarily unavailable.
Please help us to keep Oshawa's streets clear and safe for everyone!
