Waste collection schedules will change for some Oshawa households beginning June 3, 2024. Households affected by the change will be notified directly via a door hanger and a letter in the mail. Alternatively, community members can visit Oshawa.ca/WasteLookUp to determine if their property is affected.

Depending on the homeowner’s address, the shift in boundaries may mean that some households will see their collection day change, affecting the green bin, blue box, garbage, and yard waste, the week for their garbage collection change, or both.

The shift in collection boundaries will help accommodate future growth in Oshawa. The changes will improve the delivery of waste collection services by ensuring the number of curbside collection stops is equally distributed throughout the collection week.

Approximately 5,000 households are impacted. Less than 10 percent of all households in Oshawa receive waste collection. The remaining households will not experience any change to their waste collection schedule.

2024/25 Waste Calendar

Oshawa’s waste collection schedule is now digital. Community members can access their waste collection schedules and information digitally by downloading the Durham Region Waste app to their mobile devices, available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store or by visiting Oshawa.ca/Waste.
