Marriages
Congratulations on your decision to get married!
The City of Oshawa is pleased to offer wedding services for every step of your journey - from getting the marriage licence to saying, "I do" - to help make your day a stress-free and memorable moment. We offer non-religious civil marriage ceremonies at Oshawa City Hall on Wednesday and Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
Our wedding services are ideal for couples looking for a small intimate ceremony and couples planning a destination wedding but want to make it legal, before or after.
There are three steps to consider:
Step 1 - Obtain a licence to get married
Couples need a marriage licence to get legally married in Ontario. Purchase a Marriage licence at Oshawa City Hall or any other municipal office in Ontario.
Submit your Marriage licence application
Step 2 - Plan a marriage ceremony
We can help with that too! Civil marriage ceremonies are offered at Oshawa City Hall on Wednesday and Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
Step 3 - Obtain a certificate of marriage (optional)
The province of Ontario issues marriage certificates after a marriage occurs. Couples may need this to change a last name, apply for certain social benefits, or financial or other reasons.
