City extends condolences to family of Brock Township Mayor Debbie Bath-Hadden
The City of Oshawa extends our condolences to the family and friends of Brock Township Mayor Debbie Bath-Hadden who passed away on Sunday, January 24 after courageously battling cancer.
Bath-Hadden served as Brock Township’s Ward 4 Councillor for three terms from 1997 to 2006 and then served as Regional Councillor from 2010 to 2014. Bath-Hadden was elected Mayor in 2018, becoming the first female Mayor in Brock Township’s history.
Bath-Hadden was a strong community supporter and held various volunteer positions, including Chair of the North Durham Relay for Life Committee for four years. She worked alongside Ball Associations, Minor Hockey Associations, Agricultural Societies and Girl Guides of Canada.
Bath-Hadden participated on a number of committees, including the Durham Region Planning and Economic Development Committee, Association of Municipalities of Ontario – Economic Development Task Force and as Chair of the Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority.
“On behalf of City Council and the City of Oshawa, it is with profound sadness that we extend our deepest condolences to the Brock community and to the family and friends of Debbie Bath-Hadden,” said Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter. “Brock Township will miss their Mayor – a strong leader who spent numerous years serving her community as a volunteer, Councillor, Regional Councillor and since 2018 as the township’s Mayor.”
