City of Oshawa mourns passing of David Onley
The City of Oshawa extends its deepest sorrow on the passing of The Honourable David C. Onley, former Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
Mr. Onley served the province as Lieutenant Governor from 2007 to 2014. As Lieutenant Governor, he served all Ontarians with honour and was committed to raising public awareness about accessibility and inclusion. Prior to his appointment as the 28th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Onley was a highly respected broadcast journalist.
Flags have been lowered to half-mast at City Hall and City facilities to honour the memory and memorable legacy of David Onley.
“This is a moment of deep sadness for Oshawa and for people across the province who were inspired by David Onley’s contributions to accessibility and inclusion and his dedication to public service,” said Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter. “On behalf of Oshawa City Council, it is with heavy hearts that we extend our condolences to David Onley’s family and friends.”
