City of Oshawa mourns the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
On behalf of Oshawa City Council, Mayor Dan Carter expresses his deepest sorrow on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and offers his condolences to The Royal Family and the people of the Commonwealth.
Flags have been lowered to half-mast at City Hall and City facilities to honour the memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Crowned in Westminster Abbey on June 2, 1953, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was Britain’s longest-reigning monarch and Queen of Canada. She dedicated her life to public service and recently celebrated her Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years on the Throne.
“This is a moment of great sadness for Oshawa and all Canadians who have been inspired by Her Majesty’s lifetime commitment to service,” said Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter. “While we feel her loss deeply, we will continue to honour her legacy of showing kindness and compassion for others.”
Community members are invited to sign a condolence book online at Oshawa.ca or in-person at three City locations. Books of condolences will be available as of Friday, September 9 at Oshawa City Hall, Delpark Homes Centre and South Oshawa Community Centre.
God Save The King.
