City of Oshawa’s 2020 Public Sector Salary List
The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 (the Act) requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to disclose annually the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in a calendar year. The Act aims to make Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers.
The Act applies to organizations such as the Government of Ontario, Crown agencies, municipalities, hospitals, boards of public health, school boards, universities and colleges, Ontario Power Generation and other public sector employers who receive a significant level of funding from the provincial government. The municipality of the City of Oshawa annually provides a Record of Employees’ Salaries and Taxable Benefits as required under the Act.
- In 2020, 287 City of Oshawa employees received salary and taxable benefits of $100,000 or more compared with 259 in 2019.
- The 2020 list includes: 157 employees who are members of International Association of Fire Fighters Local 465; 65 management employees; 55 non-union employees; seven employees who are members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 251; two employees who are members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 250; and one member of Council.
- Overall, the City has a net increase of 28 employees on the 2020 Public Sector Salary Disclosure List compared to 2019.
