New Oshawa Community Grant Program to come into effect in 2023
The City of Oshawa will begin accepting applications December 1 for the new Community Grant Program, which provides support to community groups and organizations in Oshawa and comes into effect in 2023.
Oshawa City Council approved the new Community Grant Program in October 2021. It offers support under the following four programs:
- Arts, Culture and Heritage Events – funds to support the development and delivery of events, festivals, celebrations and gatherings in Oshawa.
- Arts, Culture and Heritage – Development Projects and Special Initiatives – one-time funding to support the development and presentation of an event, project or initiative within the arts, culture, heritage and environmental sectors.
- Strong Inclusive Communities – funds to support initiatives/events that support healthy, safe, and inclusive community development.
- Fundraising Events – in-kind services support for fundraising events held in Oshawa, including facility rental fees, equipment rentals, road closures and other City support.
The Community Grant Program replaces the former programs for Anchor Grants, Partnership Grants, Waiving of Fees and Financial Assistance. A review of these programs determined that they were difficult to apply for, the awarding of grants was inconsistent and that the programs themselves required modernization.
The new grant program includes a cross-functional grant evaluation committee comprised of City staff members from across the organization, to provide a multi-faceted review of the applications against the Council approved criteria and helps to ensure the equitable allocation of funds and/or in-kind services.
Applications may be submitted from December 1, 2022 until January 31, 2023. For more information about how to apply, visit the City’s website or email [email protected].
