New pedestrian bridge for Erie Park neighbourhood
With spring officially arriving, Ward 5 residents are making use of the newly constructed pedestrian bridge in Erie Park (43 Erie St.). The bridge connects pedestrians and cyclists to the City’s trail system.
Project highlights:
- new three-metre wide galvanized steel bridge with safety railings
- creek bank erosion measures
- new trees and shrubs
- repaved pathway with energy-efficient LED lighting leading up to the bridge
Further improvements for the area are planned this summer, including additional erosion control protection along the Oshawa Creek and the replacement of the existing concrete block retaining wall adjacent to the creek edge that is north of the bridge.
This project was approved as part of the City’s capital budget process.
