Oshawa observes National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism in Canada
The City of Oshawa with mark the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism on Wednesday, June 23.
Flags will be lowered at City facilities from sunrise until sunset that day to pay tribute to the memory of victims of terrorism and to denounce terrorism.
“Violence in any form is never the answer. Too many Canadians have felt the impact of terrorist acts,” said Mayor Carter. “We may not be able to change history, but we can learn from it, and we can remember. I encourage everyone in our community to take this moment to pause and reflect about how important it is for all of us to stand up against hate, violence and terrorism.”
National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism is observed every year on June 23 in Canada to mark the anniversary of the bombing of Air India Flight 182 which took place off the coast of Ireland in 1985 and resulted in the death of 329 people, including 280 Canadians.
