Partners in planting – City of Oshawa receives trees from CN
The City of Oshawa is thrilled to have received a donation from CN Stronger Communities Fund to plant 15 native trees at Coldstream Park.
Coldstream Park is located at 1467 Coldstream Drive, northeast of Taunton Road and Grandview Street North and adjacent to Norman G. Powers Public School. The park features a playground, ball diamond, soccer fields and paved pathways.
Trees play an important role in helping to combat climate change, growing the urban forest and improving our public spaces by providing shade and habitat.
The City understands the many contributions trees have on the environment and the importance of working with others to build a resilient tree canopy and support sustainable living for future generations. The planting of new trees in our community aligns with the Oshawa Strategic Plan and our strategic goal of Environmental Responsibility.
CN promotes community sustainability by enhancing green space across Canada in a sustainable, environmentally responsible manner. Through CN Stronger Communities Fund, CN contributes funds to organizations and initiatives that focus on five areas, with environmental sustainability as one of the focus areas.
