Best wishes for His Majesty King Charles III upon his Coronation
As Mayor, and on behalf of City Council and the residents of the City of Oshawa, we express our warmest wishes to His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort as they celebrate their Coronation.
His Majesty’s Coronation takes place at Westminster Abbey, in London on Saturday, May 6, 2023 and will be followed by various public events in the United Kingdom.
This is the first coronation of a Canadian Head of State and Monarch in seven decades and allows communities to come together to highlight themes that are important both to King Charles III and Canadians, including service, the environment and sustainability and our nation’s diversity.
His Majesty has a long history and a special relationship with Canada, having visited many times over the years. His most recent visit was in 2022 with The Queen Consort to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
Canadians will be recognizing the Coronation with a ceremony in Ottawa, free public activities at Rideau Hall and community initiatives hosted by lieutenant-governors and territorial commissioners across Canada. Community members are invited to learn more by visiting the Government of Canada’s Coronation website.
We wish His and Her Majesty a long and healthy reign and we extend our congratulations to The Royal Family, Britain and to all of the Commonwealth.
God Save The King.
