City extends condolences to family and friends of former Councillor Irvine Harrell
The City of Oshawa extends its deepest condolences to the Harrell family after the passing of former Oshawa City Councillor Irvine Harrell.
Born in Oshawa, Ontario and a longtime resident of Oshawa, Irvine was passionate about nature, scouting and sports. First elected to Oshawa City Council as an Alderman in 1985, he served on Oshawa City Council (1985 and 2000) and Durham Region Council.
He served as Chairman for the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority for 15 years and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oshawa Power & Utilities Corporation for 10 years.
Irvine will be remembered for his service to his community and for his passion for environmental conservation.
“The City of Oshawa extends its deepest condolences to the Harrell family. Irv truly cared about his community, nature and the environment – thank, you, Irv for your service and numerous contributions to Oshawa,” said Mayor Dan Carter.
Flags at City Hall were lowered to half-mast in memory of Irvine Harrell.
