City of Oshawa’s first cricket field open for play
The City of Oshawa is pleased to announce that the city’s first cricket field with pitch is officially open for use at Stone Street Park.
The new temporary cricket field is a smaller sized playing field with an approximate boundary radius of 40-50 metres.
In 2021, City Council received a request from the public to create cricket facilities in Oshawa. In response, staff reviewed existing locations within the City’s parks and open space system. In 2022, Council approved a temporary field at Stone Street Park, with a permanent regulation cricket field to be developed at a future location.
Located at 1535 Cedar Street, Stone Street Park provides a number of active and passive recreational opportunities. In addition to the cricket field, the park includes a playground, outdoor tennis courts equipped with lighting for evening play, and access to washrooms and accessible parking adjacent to the South Oshawa Community Centre.
