Construction to begin on Bond Simcoe Urban Square
Approved as part of the 2024 City’s Capital Budget, we are pleased to share that the design phase of the Bond Simcoe Urban Square is complete. Construction is anticipated to commence in spring 2025, pending Council approval to award the contract.
What does the project include:
Phase One: Spring construction includes:
- Demolition and removals
- Site excavation
- Site servicing
- Hardscape installation
- Site furnishings
- Softscape installation or planting
- Site lighting installation
Phase Two: a public art installation in 2026
When will the project be completed?
Construction is planned to begin in early spring 2025 pending Council approval to award the contract. Construction is anticipated to be complete by fall 2025, pending weather and any unforeseen delays.

What are the details of the art installation?
A public sculpture is planned for installation in the Urban Square in 2026. The City invites you to a Public Art Open House on Tuesday, February 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Arts Resource Centre, 45 Queen Street. This event offers community members a chance to meet the three shortlisted artists and view their proposals for the large-scale artwork planned for Urban Square.
