Deer Valley Park’s new splash pad and playground is open
Members of Council were on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate a new splash pad at Deer Valley Park and upgrades to the park including new play equipment.
Located at 870 Deer Valley Dr., the 2.03-hectare park is situated off Thornton Road, north of Rossland Road.
The Deer Valley Park redevelopment project included a new splash pad, junior play equipment, a large climbing structure, swings and additional seating with shade. The park also has an accessible park pathway and accessible swing, as well as a soccer field with players’ benches and bleachers. Tree plantings throughout the park provide both shade and habitat opportunities.
Community engagement was undertaken in fall 2021 on preferred playground equipment and accessibility. Construction of the upgrades to the playground and sports field were completed by the end of 2022; the splash pad, pathways and plantings were completed in spring of 2023.
