Durham Region Notice: Grandview St. N. closure from Columbus Rd. E. to Winchester Rd.

The Regional Municipality of Durham will be reconstructing Columbus Road East (Regional Road 3) from west of Grandview Street North to east of Townline Road in the City of Oshawa.

The Region’s contractor, Hard-Co Construction Ltd., has mobilized on the site with work scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2025. There will be a winter shutdown period between December 2024 and May of 2025. Work will resume in May of 2025 with the final completion anticipated in September of 2025. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

To properly facilitate the construction, Grandview Street North will be closed September 3, 2024, from Columbus Road East to Concession Road 7 (Winchester Road). Traffic detour will be Harmony Road (Durham 33) southbound to Taunton Road (Durham 4), and Enfield Road (Durham 34) northbound to Columbus Road. This closure will be in place until December 2024.

Local traffic and emergency access will be maintained at all times. Residents should expect traffic delays and are asked to exercise additional caution for the safety of the construction workers. Access to driveways will be maintained whenever possible.

Municipal construction projects include the use of equipment which may cause noticeable noise and vibration for nearby residents and businesses. The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Businesses will remain open for the duration of construction. The Region recognizes there may be potential impacts during the work.
