Introducing Oshawa’s 2024 Junior Fire Chief
Oshawa Fire Services has announced Gabriel, a sixth grader from Sir Albert Love Catholic School, as Oshawa’s 2024 Junior Fire Chief.
The Junior Fire Chief contest encouraged Oshawa students in Grades 5 and 6 to submit a video outlining the importance of smoke alarms and home escape planning. Gabriel’s role is to be an ambassador for fire safety in his school, home and community and a positive role model for his peers.
Oshawa Fire Services announced Gabriel’s achievement on Thursday, June 6, at a school assembly in front of his teachers and fellow students. His video played for all in attendance, and he received:
- Best Buy laptop
- Bicycle from Canadian Tire
- Presentation at winner's school (Special guests include the Fire Chief, Mayor and members of Council)
- Tour of Oshawa Fire Services headquarters
- Dinner at McDonald's (winner's family)
- Ride in a fire truck
Throughout the year, Gabriel participates in community activities with Oshawa Fire Services.
