Oshawa announces new Commissioner of Economic and Development Services
The City of Oshawa is delighted to announce the appointment of Anthony Ambra as the new Commissioner of Economic and Development Services.
Mr. Ambra brings extensive experience to his new position, including 20+ years with the Corporation and in the Department. Since joining the City in 2003 as the Manager of Design Services, his responsibilities have progressively evolved from managing the design phase of capital municipal projects to leading the total oversight of capital and growth related infrastructure projects as the Director of Engineering Services since 2018.
With more than 25 years’ experience in both the public and private sectors, Mr. Ambra’s leadership has been instrumental in implementing operational improvements, enhancing service delivery, and fostering a collaborative and innovative culture. Mr. Ambra holds a degree in Civil Engineering and he is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario. He holds a number of memberships and associations, including Professional Engineers Ontario, Municipal Engineers Association, Ontario Society of Professional Engineers and Ontario Provincial Standards Unit.
In his new role, Mr. Ambra oversees the following branches: Building Services, Business and Economic Development Services, Engineering Services and Planning Services. This department delivers services contributing to the City’s development and fosters economic growth for the continued prosperity of Oshawa.
