Oshawa Executive Airport – Action Plan update
The City of Oshawa is providing an update on the Oshawa Executive Airport Action Plan related to balancing the needs of both airport users and community members.
The Oshawa Executive Airport is a significant asset for economic growth for the City and Durham Region, and the City’s long-term vision includes balancing the quality of life of our residents with the economic benefits of the airport.
The Council-approved 2021-2022 Oshawa Executive Airport Action Plan includes the following actions:
- Action 1: Continue to Advance an Appropriate Balance Between the Airport and the Residential Communities
- Action 2: Continue to Defend the City’s Interests in Legal Proceedings Involving Canadian Flight Academy Ltd.
- Action 3: Market the Airport as an Executive Airport
- Action 4: Advance Opportunities to Restrict Flight Training Schools
- Action 4A: Re-affirm for Transport Canada that the City of Oshawa is Formally Opposed to the Establishment of New Flight Training Schools at the Airport
- Action 4B: Investigate an Amendment to Zoning By-law 60-94 to Limit the Number of Flight Training Schools at the Airport
- Action 5: Complete Phase 2 of Air Quality and Noise Study
- Action 6: Continue to Investigate Process to Establish New Noise Abatement Procedures and Restrictions
- Action 7: Explore New Technologies and the Use of Unleaded Fuels
- Action 8: Continue to Advocate with Transport Canada for Increased Enforcement of Safety
The City continues to be committed to ensuring open dialogue and to considering the needs of both airport users and community members as we work to fulfill our agreement with the Federal Government to operate the Oshawa Executive Airport until 2047.
