Oshawa welcomes GM’s $280 million investment in next generation truck production
On behalf of the City of Oshawa, Mayor Carter is thrilled to welcome GM Canada’s announcement that they will invest a further $280 million in the Oshawa Assembly plant to build GM’s next internal combustion engine (ICE) full-size trucks.
With this investment, GM has committed more than $1.4 billion in Oshawa since 2020. These investments further solidify Oshawa’s footprint in the transformed automotive industry of the future and ensure that GM manufacturing operations and thousands of quality jobs remain in Oshawa.
In November 2021, the Oshawa Assembly Plant reopened, producing the Chevrolet Silverado pickup. Today, production at the Oshawa Assembly Plant has increased to three shifts. Since reopening, GM Canada has created 2,600 new manufacturing jobs in Oshawa and thousands of indirect local jobs.
