Road Closure: Columbus Rd. E. from Grandview St. N. to east of Townline Rd,.

The Regional Municipality of Durham will be reconstructing Columbus Road East (Regional Road 3) from Grandview Street North to east of Townline Road in the City of Oshawa.

Construction Schedule

The Region’s contractor, Hard-Co Construction Ltd., will mobilize the week of August 6, 2024 with work scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2025. There will be a winter shutdown period between December 2024 and May of 2025. Work will resume in May of 2025 with the final completion anticipated in September of 2025. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Lane Restrictions and Closures

Lane restrictions on Columbus Road East between Grandview Street North and east of Townline Road will be required during construction. Full closures of Columbus Road East at the intersection of Grandview Street North will be required throughout the construction seasons. Traffic detours will be established and communicated redirecting traffic around the closures. Local traffic and emergency access will be maintained at all times. Residents should expect traffic delays and are asked to exercise additional caution for the safety of the construction workers. Access to driveways will be maintained whenever possible. Notification will be given to residents if vehicles need to be moved out of their driveways.

Municipal construction projects include the use of equipment which may cause noticeable noise and vibration for nearby residents and businesses. The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Businesses

Businesses will remain open for the duration of construction. The Region recognizes there may be potential impacts during the work.
