Winter reminders and share your feedback this season
The City of Oshawa reminds residents of their winter responsibilities, parking regulations, and invites feedback on winter maintenance through Connect Oshawa.
On-street parking
On-street parking is not permitted on Oshawa streets from December 1 to April 1 between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Vehicles may be ticketed and/or towed during these hours, regardless of weather or snow clearing operations.
Additionally, vehicles parked on Oshawa streets during snow clearing or salting operations may be ticketed or towed at any time of year.
Occasional Use Parking Permits (O.U.P.P.s) are invalid during snow clearing or salting operations, and any pre-arranged O.U.P.P.s are suspended during these times.
Snow Clearing Activity Report
During snow clearing operations, community members are encouraged to view the Snow Clearing Activity Report for updates on the progress of snow clearing for City-maintained roadways, sidewalks and the snow clearing assistance program.
The Activity Report is updated throughout the day based on the visual observations of City staff, with projected completion times calculated from equipment capabilities, temperature, snow intensity, and duration
Note: The Region of Durham maintains all regional roads within Oshawa, and their snow clearing activities are not included in the Snow Clearing Activity Report.
Share your feedback on snow clearing operations
The City is dedicated to providing effective snow clearing services to keep City roads and sidewalks safe during winter. Crews work around the clock to complete clearing within 24 hours after a snowfall ends.
Community members are encouraged to complete a feedback form 48 hours after each winter storm:
- online on Connect Oshawa (connectoshawa.ca/Snow);
- on paper at Service Oshawa (located at City Hall, 50 Centre St. S.) during regular business hours; or,
- by calling Service Oshawa at 905-436-3311 during regular business hours to request a paper form be mailed to you.
The feedback form will be open until April 1, 2025. Feedback received will be considered in adjustments made to winter operations this season and beyond. The City is committed to providing a meaningful feedback opportunity, and as a result, feedback questions on the form may be adjusted throughout the season to better understand your concerns.
For immediate assistance, please contact Service Oshawa at 905-436-3311.
Let’s work together
Residents and businesses are responsible and required to clear the way around their property, including:
- Ensuring snow and ice are removed from sidewalks adjacent to your property by midnight of the first day after precipitation has ended.
- Continuing to remove snow and ice from sidewalks throughout a snow, sleet or freezing rain event. If the sidewalk is not entirely cleared of snow and ice, the property owner may receive escalating penalties of $75 to $275 per day of violation and invoiced costs associated with snow and ice removal.
