Radar Message Board Program in your neighbourhood
In 2020, the City of Oshawa introduced the Council Directed Radar Message Board Program to improve road safety on local streets with reported speeding concerns.
Things to know:
- Each Radar Message Board Device is equipped with radar technology to detect the speed of approaching vehicles.
- The Radar Message Board records and displays vehicle speeds back to motorists.
- This traffic calming tool is an educational instrument designed to increase motorist awareness and safety.
- These signs do not take photos of vehicles or issue speeding tickets and data collection does not influence where automated speed enforcement will be placed.
- There are up to 10 Radar Message Board Devices for each Ward that are installed at various locations. Locations can be requested through your Ward Councillor Members.
- The Region of Durham also places Radar Speed Signs on Regional Roads within Oshawa. More information can be located on the Region’s website. A list of Regional roads in Oshawa can be found at oshawa.ca.
